Lamonsters were awakened! If you were just sleeping in Lamont, we're pretty sure you woke up to the sounds of a very loud fire alarm. Indeed, Lamont was evacuated due to a drill at 3:15 p.m. today. Luckily, the sun was shining outside and it wasn't too cold. Go back to sleep.

At about 4:20 p.m. on Monday, the Cambridge Fire Department responded to a smoking trash can at the corner of JFK St. and South St. They took the trash can apart and extinguished the fire.

An unidentified car caught fire in front of Eliot courtyard on Memorial Drive before the fire was extinguished by the Cambridge Fire Department on Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Students were evacuated from Eliot House at around 1 a.m. tonight and found fire trucks outside their House. After about half an hour, emergency response personnel gave students permission to return to the House.

April 2, 1929: Historic Engine Makes Debut in Square Today At exactly five minutes past one today a fire engine of the Cambridge Catamounts, historic New England fire-fighting aggregation, drawn by six "Fire B'hoys" will make its appearance on Harvard Square. The engine, the one to be used by the Hasty Pudding Club for its production "Fireman, Save my Child," will start from an unrevealed place on Church Street and go up to the Square.
