Harvard Junior Salma Abdelrahman Named Truman Scholar
Salma Abdelrahman ’20 was sitting in a Phillips Brooks House Association meeting when she found out she was one of 62 students across the country named 2019 Truman Scholars, a graduate scholarship for college students committed to public service.

The Phillips Brooks House in Harvard Yard on Thursday afternoon. The building currently houses offices for the Center for Public Interest Careers, the Harvard Public Service Network, and the Phillips Brooks House Association.
March Through Downtown Crossing
Ralliers marched through Downtown Crossing to the State House. Chanting slogans including "Youth Jobs Now," some people carried signs while others carried information on upcoming legislation concerning job funding.

Pressley (D-Mass.) spoke to the crowd about the importance of youth voices and youth work at the Boston Common Grand Stand during a rally before the March for Youth Jobs. Other speakers included State Representative Liz Miranda, who spoke about her own experiences beginning to work at age thirteen.

The march concluded at the Massachusetts State House, where some marchers were planning to spend the afternoon speaking with lawmakers about summer job funding. Members of Harvard's Philips Brooks House Association planned to advocate for full funding of after school and out of school grants and a summer jobs program for at-risk-youth.

Chanting “youth united will never be defeated” and “youth need labor,” several members of Harvard’s Phillips Brooks House Association and local students marched for youth job funding at the eleventh annual Dreams of Our Future rally in Boston Thursday.
