Year in Photos - Campus Life

Even with full academic schedules, students found plenty of ways to fill the extra time. From ordering late-night cookies to demanding changes in campus culture, from watching student performances to hearing from Broadway legends, Harvard students stayed busy from fall to spring.

Though the Harvard women’s soccer team failed to capture another Ivy title this season, it beat archrival Yale, 1-0, in overtime at home.

Sophomore Murphy Vandervelde sunk an overtime goal to propel Harvard men’s lacrosse past then-No. 16 Penn before being mobbed by teammates.

In his final Crimson season, senior Walter Peppelman dominated EIWA competition, finishing second at the EIWA Championships for the second time.

The Harvard community responds to the Boston Marathon bombings of Monday, April 15th and the 22-hour chase for suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev on Friday, April 19th.

At the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships, Harvard track and field finished third. Sophomore Jarvis Harris placed third in the 60-meter hurdles.

Sophomore goalie Ariel Dukes posted 246 saves as the women’s water polo team finished 18-16. Last year, Dukes only tallied 193 stops.

Throughout the year, sophomore sixth man Steve Moundou-Missi often provided a spark off the bench, electrifying the crowd with several dunks.

First it seemed winter would never arrive--then it seemed it would never end. School spirit rallied around the men's basketball team's first Ivy League championship. In another historic development, the University recognized the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. Meanwhile, campus controversies--large and small--House life, and magical club sports filled the time in between.

Year in Photos: Sports

Harvard men’s basketball won its first Ivy League title in 2010-2011, but it wasn’t the only team making big strides this year. Softball won its first Ivy League crown since 2007, while the men’s heavyweight and lightweight are favorites to take home the national title when they compete in the IRA National Championships in June. Men’s swimming and diving had a perfect season in league play but fell short in its pursuit of the Ivy title.
