What Kind of Harvard Student Will You Be This Summer?

The summer is approaching faster than we think. We might finally get the chance to escape Cambridge… or maybe not. As someone who currently has no plans whatsoever for the summer (I know, I’m a master procrastinator), I present a short quiz to help you figure out what type of Harvard student you’ll be when summer rolls around.

What’s your go-to study spot on campus?

  1. Lamont. I need absolute silence to grind.

  2. Annenberg Hall — I need to socialize with a new person every 5 minutes

  3. The Smith Center

  4. My dorm

It’s Friday night. Where are you?

  1. On a Zoom call, coffee chatting Goldman Sachs VPs

  2. Clubbing with strangers, drunk

  3. In the Harvard labs conducting an experiment

  4. Rotting in your dorm. There’s nothing better than doomscrolling <3

How often do you check your email?

  1. The minute the notification dings on the phone

  2. At my convenience

  3. Before bed, after just finishing a 7-hour lock-in at Lamont

  4. Never until your professor mentions how important it is during class

How would you describe your relationship with Cambridge?

  1. Pretty chill location, though I’d rather be in New York City

  2. I would much rather be in a niche town in Europe

  3. No opinion

  4. I’m just here for college

Your summer outfit looks like:

  1. Business casual (sweating)

  2. Floral print dresses, sunglasses, shorts… anything to celebrate summer

  3. The Harvard merch I swore to everyone I wouldn’t wear to show off

  4. Whatever the first thing is that I grab from my closet.

Results

Mostly A’s: The Overachiever. Typical Harvard stereotype. Frantically scrolling on LinkedIn, motivated by others sharing their summer internship plans, and applying to 200+ internship applications.

Mostly B’s: The easy-goer. Your entire Pinterest board is already filled with your study abroad aesthetic.

Mostly C’s: The nerd. You are emailing every professor possible, desperate for a research opportunity.

Mostly D’s: You’re unemployed. Jk. You like to “go with the flow” and maximize laziness, but somehow still manage to pull something together last minute. And it’s way cooler than what all your friends are doing.

All jokes aside, having ZERO summer plans is completely acceptable. What other time do you have to genuinely enjoy a break? I hope everyone enjoys their summer.
