HOCKEY MEN START TRAINING

CAPT. MORGAN ADDRESSED SQUAD IN VARSITY CLUB LAST EVENING.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At the first meeting of all candidates for the University hockey team, held in the Varsity Club last night, 42 men reported. Coach Ralph Winsor '02 was unfortunately unable to be present, but Captain J. E. P. Morgan '17 spoke for him, emphasizing training and team play as the most important two essentials of a successful team. Although this year's material is of the best, Captain Morgan made a plea for team play at all times, particularly as the ability of this year's squad might lead to neglect of the necessary factor.

Dr. Channing Frothingham '02, medical adviser to the squad, spoke, on the training rules which will be enforced. Strict training will start on Monday when the first practice will be held in the Arena. All supplies must be bought immediately so that everything may be complete at the first day's work.

A second team will be formed this year as usual, but owing to the excellent material on hand, it should be almost as good as the first squad. Several games will be played between the regulars and the seconds so that an opportunity will be given the coaches to keep their eyes on the second team.

The Arena will be opened tomorrow and all candidates for the team who can will skate there either tomorrow or Friday. The hour from 5 to 6 o'clock on Friday will be reserved for the team's practice and the men will then be able to use sticks for the first time.
