Tournament Begins Today at Haverford. Harvard Team Strong.

HAVERFORD, PA., Oct. 7.--The Harvard players were all defeated in the second round of singles and doubles, of the intercollegiate tennis tournament, held here today. This defeat ends Harvard's chances of winning, as the Harvard team will now take no part in the semi-final rounds still to be played.

Of the colleges still left in the tournament, Columbia has two men in the singles, and Yale and Pennsylvania each have one. In the doubles, Yale, Pennsylvania, and Columbia have each a pair, who will compete in the semi-finals.

The results of the matches in detail follow: In the singles Mahan (Columbia), easily defeated R. Bishop 3L. in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, and Clapp (Yale), defeated B. S. Prentice '05, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

In the doubles Colket and Dewhurst (Pennsylvania), defeated B. S. Prentice '05, and J. L. B. Larned '05, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. C. L. Cole 3L., and R. Bishop 3L., were defeated by Colston and Clapp (Yale), 6-2, 6-2.

The other matches resulted as follows: Thurber (Columbia), defeated Cole (Yale), 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Dewhurst (Pennsylvania), defeated Colket (Pennsylvania), 6-3, 6-4.
