NINE LEAVES FOR SERIES AT BROWN

Has Beaten Penn and Dartmouth and Gone Under to Georgia and Bates--Crimson Pitchers at Yale Game Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University nine will invade Providence tomorrow for the first of a two-game series with the Brown team. The Bruins have been playing an erratic game all season, and the Crimson team stands a slight favorite unless Brown displays the kind of baseball that enabled it to defeat Pennsylvania 4 to 1 and to hold Dartmouth to a 5 to 4 score recently. However, Georgia slammed three Brown pitchers for 15 runs a month ago. A 4 to 1 defeat of Bates is the only other score that serves as a comparison between the two teams, Harvard having won from the Maine team, 11 to 8.

Four Old Timers on Brown Team

Four veterans of last year's team will oppose the Crimson team tomorrow and Saturday in the second game. Neubauer hurled against Harvard in the two games last year, losing the first, 5 to 0, but winning the second, 7 to 4. Trumbower, Hoffman and Ruckstall are the other veterans. Murphy, shortstop last year, has been alternating with Kilpatrick this year but it is probable that the latter will start tomorrow.

Crimson Pitchers in Advance Guard

Toulmin and Spalding accompanied Coach Slattery to Providence yesterday, where they were interested spectators of the Brown-Yale game. Since Spalding will probably start the Princeton game next week, he is the likely moundsman for tomorrow, giving him an extra day of rest. Cheek, who has entirely recovered from his recent injury, will in all probability be behind the bat again tomorrow. Harvard  Brown Rogers r.f.  3b. Cutler Campbell 1b.  c.f.
