EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON:- The base-ball season is fast approaching and with it comes up a question which is of deep interest to all-the faculty's prohibition of practice with professionals. We have been handicapped long enough by this regulation and must do something to bring about a change. The faculty's position will prove untenable if we only assail it. The first necessity is some one to start the movement. The faculty will never raise their veto unless they are asked. Occasional editorials in college papers or hints in student assemblies have no weight. What is needed is an aroused public sentiment, such as will show itself in mass meetings and monster petitions. This course was what won our voluntary prayer system, and this course alone will unshackle our nine from its present disadvantages, so that it may meet Yale and Princeton on an equal footing. We must begin at once. The faculty will, no doubt, refuse. In that case we must persevere. Let a second and a third petition follow if necessary. If these fail, appeal to the graduates. There is no reason why, by an aroused public sentiment, together with the assistance of the graduates and those members of the faculty who favor the change, we should not get what we asked. One thing is certain-we must not longer be idle. Cannot you, editors of the CRIMSON, at once head a petition which shall ask that our nine be given a fair show in the future?
