Statistics of the University.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The statistics of the various departments of the University have been given out for publication, though they are still very in complete and inadequate. It will be seen by the subjoined table there has been a total gain over last year of 221.

The professional schools are still on the gain, while at the same time the upper classes in the college itself are much larger than ever before. In four departments there is a loss. The Graduate School has 13 less than last year, the Divinity School 1 less, the Bussey Institute 8 less, while there is a falling off of 19 in the number of Special Students. But all these departments, except that of the Special Students, increased last year after the statistics were made out. The most marked and encouraging gain is that of 63 in the Scientific School. It is a noteworthy fact, also, that the class of ninety-five entered with 381 and still numbers 381.

The total number of undergraduates is 1591, a gain of 135 over 1891-92.

The Summer School reports are not included in the table. The students numbered 441 during last summer, a gain of 78 over the number for 1891.
