The question for debate this evening will be, "Resolved, That the hard times of the present year have been mainly caused by the uncertainty in regard to the tariff legislation." On the affimative the principal disputants will be Messrs. A. P. Stone and A. S. Apsey; on the negative, Messrs. C. W. Mixter and F. C. Thwaits. The meeting will be held in Sever 11, at 7.30 p. m.

At the last meeting of the club Mr. E. J. Dewire was elected secretary and Mr. D. King was elected on the membership committee. The prospects of the club for the future are most favorable. That this will be a year of unparalleled interest in debating, is evidenced by the fact that there were over forty applications for membership before the committee at its last meeting. Of these, fifteen have been favorably acted upon. At the meeting this evening it is expected that radical measures will be taken regulating admission into the club.
