The officers of the Yale Navy have secured permission from the New Haven Water Company for the college crews to practise on Lake Whitney. In order to do this, a boat house will be necessary, and the Navy is now negotiating for the purchase of land suitable for that purpose. If the land is obtained a boat house will be built at once, and the University and Freshman crews will row there as early in the spring as possible. It is thought that the crews will be enabled to get on the water sooner here than on the harbor, and so considerable time will be gained. After the season is more advanced the lake will be given up to the Freshman crew, and the University crew will row on the harbor as usual, as the course on the lake is only two miles long.
