HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
To the Editors of the Crimson:
Will you kindly allow me space in which to urge upon the students to attend in full numbers the meeting to be held on Tuesday evening, in Sanders Theatre, to promote interest in the Reform of the Civil Service.
It is seldom that an opportunity is afforded to listen to speakers of such character and competence as President Eliot, Mr. Storey and Mr. Dana, on a subject of such public importance as this Reform.
The Reform depends upon the awakened intelligence and moral sense of the community, and every youth at the University who desires to know his duty as a citizen in respect to a question which seems likely soon to become the most prominent subject of debate in our national politics should be present at the meeting.
Very truly yours,
C. E. NORTON.
