The executive committee of the Harvard Union decided on Professor Cummings, Mr. J. J. Hayes and one member of the Union as judges for the competitive debate tonight. The meeting will be held at 7 instead of 7.30, in order to give men a chance to attend the philanthropic meeting in Sanders.
Wendell Phillips Club. The trial debate for membership in the Wendell Phillips Club occurs this evening in Harvard 1 at 7 o'clock. Though the club does not ordinarily meet until 7.30, it has been found necessary to begin earlier this evening, both to accommodate the large number of men who have already signified their intention of competing, and also to give men who desire, a chance to debate before attending the meeting in Sanders at 8.00.
A committee of members of the Faculty and of the club will choose the successful candidates. So many are trying that this time a larger number than usual will be selected.
