The Freshman eleven defeated English High on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon by the score of 4 to 0. The men showed a good deal of improvement both in team work and in the general spirit they put into the play. The backs played hard and the centre held well, especially in two instances where English High was held for downs with the ball on the 5 yard line. The tackles and ends were not so good, the ends especially being circled for several long gains. Warren did the best individual work.

The only scoring was done in the first half. After about three minutes of play, 1900 got the ball near the centre of the field and pushed it steadily up until Warren went over the line for a touchdown. No goal was kicked. Later in the half, English High rushed the ball down to 1900's 5 yard line but lost the ball on downs. The ball was in the centre of the field for the rest of the half. In the second half the ball was in 1900's territory most of the time. Toward the close, English High got the ball to the five yard line but 1900 held until time was called.

The Freshman line-up was as follows: Heard, Beardsell, l. e.; Talbot, l. t.; Boal, l. g.; Curtis, c.; Trainer, r. g.; Shaw, r. t.; Hawkins, r. e.; Hatch, q. b.; Parker, Oglesby, l. h. b.; Gray, r. h. b.; Warren, f. b.
