The first hare and hound run of the season was held yesterday afternoon. Over sixty men started and about forty finished. The hares, H. W. Foote '97 and A. Blakemore '97, chose an excellent course, but on account of the shortness of the run were able to gain but six minutes on the hounds. By the rules of the game the hares have five minutes start and must finish twelve minutes before the hounds. Today they finished eleven minutes before the hounds, therefore the latter won by one minute.
The course led from the Gymnasium through Cambridge Common to Mt. Auburn St., thence around the cemetery and back to the Gymnasium, about six miles. The first six hares to finish were D. Grant M. S, E. A. Starbuck '98, R. E. Swezey 3L., A. B. Ruhl '99, W. C. Burton '99, and J. F. Downey sS. The first three men will receive prizes, all having finished within twelve minutes.
The next run will take place Friday, Nov. 13, and will be slightly longer than that of yesterday. D. Grant M. S., and E. A. Starbuck '98 will be hares.
