The first regular meeting of the Freshman Debating Club was held last evening. A fair number of men attended and a good deal of interest and enthusiasm was shown. The subject for debate was "Resolved, That the election of Wm. Bryan is necessary for the welfare of the country." In addition to the principal speakers many men spoke from the floor. The standard of speaking was on the whole good for so early in the year.
M. Seasongood was elected temporary chairman of the meeting for next week. The subject of debate for next Wednesday is announced as follows: "Resolved, That the United States should interefere in the Cuban Rebellion in favor of the Insurgents." The speakers for the affirmative will be S. B. Snow and J. F. Morrison, and for the negative, E. Sachs and J. E. McCloskey.
