Dartmouth won this year's baseball series by defeating Harvard on Holmes Field yesterday afternoon by the score of 7 to 6.

On account of Haughton's lame arm Paine pitched the first six innings, doing much better than on Tuesday afternoon. Only one hit,- a three bagger by Abbott in the second inning-was made off Paine. He was, however, largely responsible for the two runs made by Dartmouth in the second inning.

Paine was succeeded in the sixth inning by Cozzens, who did more than any one else to lose the game. In the seventh inning he gave five men bases on balls, which with Rowe's single brought in the three runs that decided the game. Cozzens gave way then to Haughton who finished strong by striking out McCornack and Abbott.

The features of the game were Dean's wonderful tumbling catch of Rowe's low fly, and Rowe's one handed catch of Rand's high fly in the sixth inning. Several of the infielders owe their thanks to T. Stevenson whose good stops saved them several costly errors.

Clarkson made his first appearance at shortstop. His throwing was as faulty as Crawford's but at the bat he strengthened the team considerably.

Dartmouth played a cool steady game throughout. The men played especially well whenever Harvard got anyone on bases. Tabor pitched a steady though not a very strong game.

Harvard began with some hard playing. Scannell hit for two bases, advanced on Dean's single and both scored on a passed ball.

Dartmouth did not score until the second when errors by Paine, Dean and Burgess gave her two runs.

In the third Paine got a base on balls and scored on Haughton's three-base hit to left field. Another score was added in the fourth when Burgess hit safely, reaching third on Adams's error. He scored on T. Stevenson's hit over third base.

Dartmouth scored one in the fifth through R. Stevenson's error leaving the score 5 to 3 in Harvard's favor. Two safe hits and Haughton's loose fielding gave Dartmouth another run in the sixth.

Dean opened the seventh with a safe hit to right, stole second, reached third on a dropped third strike and scored on Haughton's high fly to centre. This ended the scoring for Harvard.

Cozzens's weakness in the fatal seventh inning gave Dartmouth the three runs she needed to win. Even then Harvard ought to have won, as a man reached third both in the eighth and in the ninth with one out, but failure to hit the ball on the part of those who followed lost the game.
