Most of the contestants in the chess tournament were on hand at the appointed hour last evening, but owing to some unfortunate mistake the janitor had not prepared the room. The men adjourned to one of the members' rooms, and made appointments for their games, many of which were played immediately.

The follwing results were received in time for publication: F. Irwin beat Thorndike; H. A. Davis beat R. D. Brown; N. Hapgood beat S. C. Brackett; S. W. Sturgis beat O. Everett.

Contestants are reminded that all games in the first round must be finished before Dec. 19, and that scores of all games must be kept and handed to Mr. R. D. Brown at 35 Matthews.
