The Amateur Athletic Union has started a new plan this year in regard to amateur athletes. No one will be allowed to compete in open games sanctioned by the A. A. U. unless he is duty registered. The rule is to go into effect March 1. Entry blanks have been sent around to athletic associations. All athletes who register are given a number and their records and performances can thus be kept track of more accurately.
The fee for registration is $1, and applications must be endorsed by the secretary of the club and the secretary of the divisional union. Registration expires on the last day of February of each year and must be renewed.
New England athletes will do well to bear in mind that they must be registered to compete in any A. A. U. games after March 1. The New England secretary is W. H. Plummer, Worcester, Mass.
