Captain Rand assisted in coaching the Freshman baseball candidates yesterday. After the practice he spoke to the men briefly, saying that there seemed to be a tendency on the part of some men to shirk the work, and that if this continued the lazy ones would be dropped regardless of their ability to play ball.
Six men have joined the squad since the list was published. They are: B. M. Brown, pitcher; W. Whittemore, catcher; I. A. Sibley, 1st base; S. H. Eldridge, 2nd base; H. H. Flower, short stop; and E. A. Pierce, 2nd base.
The men will be given a complete rest next week, and at the first of the week following another call for candidates will be made, when every man who expects to try for the team will have to present himself.
