The College nine easily defeated the Freshmen Saturday afternoon on Soldiers Field in a listless nine-inning game by the score of 12 to 2. Both teams were rather weak in the box, but Galbraith's delivery, although slow, seemed to puzzle the Freshmen. The College nine secured a total of twelve hits, of which Farrington made four singles, Lewis three, Bertholf two, and Maguire, Ewer and Lane one apiece. For the Freshmen, Milne secured one two-base hit besides a single, Coolidge a double, while Fincke and Quincy each made a single.
The fielding of the College nine was fairly accurate throughout the game. The work of the Freshmen, however, was decidedly poor, with the exception of two neat double plays in the first and fifth innings.
