Rainy Day Football Practice.

Several changes were made in the football line-up yesterday. Roberts played centre on the first eleven and Sargent was put against him on the second. Greene was put at left tackle and Dodge at fullback on the second. Owing to the rain the preliminary practice was done in the cage. The squad was divided into three elevens which went through signal practice. The first eleven practiced on the formation for a place kick for goal from the field.

After the preliminary practice the first and second elevens lined up on the western scrub football field for two ten-minute halves. The wet and slippery field prevented accurate playing and the ball was fumbled back and forth between the two elevens. The only encouraging features of the practice were the way the men kept their feet and the good work of the interference in helping the runners along when tackled.

Dodge at fullback hit the line hard and kept his feet well. Greene at tackle did not succeed in doing much against Lawrence. Sargent and Roberts both played aggressively at centre, Roberts showing up a little the better. Kernan and Ristine ran well considering the slippery condition of the field Kernan was especially clever in dodging. Graydon allowed his opponent to break through several times and tackle the runner for a loss.

W. G. Lee 2M., who played guard last year, was out in football clothes, but did not play. Randolph, who wrenched his knee in the Columbia game, will be out by the end of the week, and as Daly's knee is now in good shape, he too, will be able to play in a few days. Both Bowditch and Devens, who have had water on the knee, will be out shortly, and Putnam, Burgess and Baldwin will be able to play by the end of this week.

The only scoring in yesterday's game was by the first eleven. In the second half Barnard broke through the line, blocked Dodge's punt, and, securing the ball, ran 20 yards for a touchdown.
