The meeting held at the Union last night to celebrate the football victory was opened by singing some of the football songs. President Eliot was the first speaker. He mentioned the excellent training which gave the team its fine physical condition. Two great elements in their success were that they were not worked to exhaustion in practice and that they had learned to play together as a team. He also spoke of the friendly spirit existing between Harvard and Yale.

Major Higginson congratulated the team on their victory and praised the spirit which Yale showed in cheering to the last. In conclusion he spoke of the work of Coach Reid and Captain Campbell, and called attention to the excellent team-play which characterized Saturday's game.

Colonel Hallowell said that the fighting spirit of Harvard men which the tablets in Memorial Hall commemorate is much the same today as it was in '61.

Captain Campbell spoke of the work the team has done and of the enthusiastic spirit of the whole University.

Coach Reid told of the general method employed in coaching the team. He said the requisites of a good team are five,--spirit, condition, knowledge of the game, strong material, and drill. He also spoke of the hard work the team has done, their perseverance and their loyalty to the University to the exclusion of their personal ambition.

Coach Lewis was the last speaker. He spoke briefly of the work of the team and the coaches.

After the meeting a torchlight procession formed in front of the Union and marched to Soldiers Field, as it was found impossible to have the celebration on Holmes Field. A barge containing the members of the football team headed the line and after this the classes followed in order. At the field a bonfire had been built by the class of 1905, and around it the several classes gathered. There was a display of fireworks, and the members of the team, the coaches, the trainer and the captains of the other University teams were all cheered, Frantz leading. Then the celebration closed with singing "Down with Yale."
