GALE'S FERRY, CONN., June 17.--After a short row this evening, the order of the University crew was changed. Lawrence was put in at 7 and Ayer moved back to 5. After the change the men rowed together better, and the boat travelled much more smoothly. The crew did a half mile under favorable conditions in 2 minutes 30 seconds. The four rowed two half-mile stretches, one against the wind and tide in 3 minutes and 7 seconds, and one with the wind and tide in 2 minutes 4 seconds. The order was as follows: Stroke, Brownell; 3, Francis; 2, Derby; bow, James; cox., Howe.

The Freshmen rowed today in the following order: Stroke, Phillips; 7, Lindsay; 6, Thanisch; 5, Parmelee; 4, Sanger; 3, Meier; 2, Minturn; bow, Dillingham. Their work was still better than on Saturday, but the crew is not yet as fast as the Yale freshmen. A Freshman four went out in the following order: Stroke, Foster; 3, Lloyd; 2, Clapp; bow, Cruger; cox., Jay.

T. P. Lindsay was elected captain of the Freshman crew this afternoon, in place of D. Lloyd, resigned.
