SOPHOMORES WIN DEBATE.

The second debate of the interclass series was won last evening by the Sophomores. The question for debate was, "Resolved, That the natural productive industries of the United States would be benefited by legislation securing immediate reciprocity with Canada on natural and manufactured products." The Sophomores supported the negative of the question, speaking in the following order: G. C. Townsend, A. W. Blackwood, and J. W. Russell. The Freshman order was, E. R. Brumley, W. M. Whitman, and W. H. Keeling.

The debate was very close, the judges remaining in consultation for three-quarters of an hour. Although the Freshmen excelled in the main speeches, the Sophomores won by superior work in rebuttal and by bringing in more definite evidence. The judges were P. G. Carleton 2L., R. LuV. Lyman, and A. B. Weiler sL.

The final debate of the series will be held between the Seniors and the Sophomores during the first week in March. The Pasteur Medal will be awarded to the man doing the best work in this debate. The question will be chosen by the French Department.
