First University Basketball Practice.

The first practice of the University basketball squad was held last night in the Hemenway Gymnasium. After preliminary practice in shooting and passing, a match between two picked teams was held, in which team A defeated team B by a score of 22 to 8. The match as a whole was fast and exhibited marked improvement in the tendency of the players to foul. The men covered their positions fairly accurately, and several long shots for baskets were successful

The line-up was: TEAM A.  TEAM B. Jones, r.f.  l.f., McCarty Gallagher, l.f.  r.f., Ricker, Miles Snyder, c.  c., Griffiths Swift, r.g.  l.g., Proctor Dapping, l.g.  r.g., Burnham

A cut will be made in the University squad Wednesday or Thursday, but immediately after the Christmas recess, men not on the University squad will be allowed to compete in a scrub basketball series, for trophies offered by the management. Entries, either as individuals or as teams, may be made in a blue book soon to be placed in the office of the Gymnasium. The best players in this scrub series will be taken to the University squad. No entrance fee will be charged.
