DEGREES AT THE MID-YEARS.

New Rule Passed by Corporation and Overseers to Go Into Effect at Once.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At a meeting of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences yesterday President Eliot announced that by vote of the Corporation and Board of Overseers, the University will hereafter confer degrees at the end of the first half-year on any men who have earned them by that time, and wish to receive their degrees at once.

The new rule will go into effect immediately. A student in any department of the University who has now completed the requirements for a degree and wishes to take it at once may apply to the dean of the department in which he is registered, for recommendation for the degree. Men who receive their degrees at the end of the first half-year will be counted members of the class graduating in the following June.

Men who receive a bachelor's degree at the mid-years and wish to take a master's degree may register at once in the Graduate School, and receive the A.M. or S.M. on completing the required year of study at the middle of the following year.
