CORNELL WON TRACK GAMES

Saturday afternoon the University rack team finished third in the intercollegiate track meet at Franklin Field, Philadelphia, with a score of 20 1-2 points. Cornell was first with 30 1-2 and Yale second with 28 points. The scores of other colleges were as follows: Pennsylvania 18, Princeton 15, Amherst 8, Colgate 8, Syracuse 8, Stevens 3, Swarthmore 2, Haverford 1, Columbia 1.

During the afternoon, two records were broken. Parsons of Yale lowered the time for the 880-yard run 4-5 of a second, finishing in 1m., 56 s., after leading throughout the race. In the pole vault Dray of Yale cleared 11 ft., 10 1-2 in., which is 3 1-4 in. better than the previous record.

All the points of the University team were made in five of the thirteen events. W. A. Schick, Jr., '05 won 10 of the total of 20 1-2 points by finishing first in both the 100-yard and 220-yard dashes. L. P. Dodge '08 secured 2 by winning third place in the 220-yard dash and R. E. Crane '05 made 2 1-2 more by tieing with Porter of Cornell for second place in the high jump. E. J. Dives '06 finished second in the 440-yard run, which was won in 49 F. H. Schoenfuss 1G. was a disappointment in the shot put, as he was only able to secure second place. But the team was practically defeated on Friday through the inability of a number of men to qualify for the finals in the various events.
