Four Football Sub-Committees

The American Intercollegiate Football Rules Committee, as the joint committee is now, called, concluded its session at the Hotel Netherlands, New York, early Saturday morning. It was decided, soon after the amalgamation had been effected, that at future meetings eight voters shall be necessary for effective legislation.

A sub-committee of four was appointed for the elimination of violence and foul play. Those elected were: J. C. Bell, Pennsylvania, chairman, H. Curtis, University of Texas; Dr. J. A. Babbitt, Haverford; P. Dashiel, Annapolis. The sub-committee on suggestions towards opening up the game was elected as follows: W. Camp, Yale, chairman; H. K. Hall, Dartmouth; W. T. Reid, Jr., Harvard; M. Dennis, Cornell. A sub-committee was elected to consider the proposal to procure a field where suggestions on rules may be practically demonstrated. It is composed of: C. D. Daly, West Point, chairman; J. B. Fine, Princeton; C. W. Savage, Oberlin. The following committee on suggestions as to ways and means of appointing a central board of officials was appointed: Dr. J. A. Babbitt, Haverford, chairman; W. T. Reid, Jr., Harvard; Prof. L. M. Dennis, Cornell. All these committees will report at the next meeting in New York on January 27.
