BASEBALL WITH AMHERST

On Soldiers Field at 4.--Hartford to Pitch for Harvard.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball nine will play Amherst on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. With the exception of one outfielder, the catcher and second base man, Amherst will use the same team this afternoon that defeated Harvard last year by a score of 4 to 3. In that game McRae, who will pitch for Amherst this afternoon, struck out seven men, and received good support in the field. Hartford will pitch his second game for Harvard. Against Trinity, N. C., at Richmond, he allowed few hits, but lacked control.

The practice of the University team for two days past has not been encouraging. At the bat no improvement has been made, and the men have developed an alarming weakness in handling thrown balls. A strong wind has interfered with the work of the outfielders.

The batting orders: HARVARD.  AMHERST. Leonard, 3b.  c.f., Wheeler McCall, 2b.  1b., Palmer Dexter, l.f.  3b., Storke Stephenson, c.  s.s., Beach Burr, 1b.  r.f., Shattuck McCarty, r.f.  c., Spring Hellmann, c.f.  p., McRae, Newell Hartford, p.  l.f., Danahey Harvey, s.s.  2b., Allaire
