LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
The work of the University crew yesterday was very encouraging. The men were well together throughout every stroke and rowed more vigorously than at any time this season. The crew took a hard row over the first seven-eighths of a mile of the regular course, turning around at the Harvard bridge. Today the work of the crew will be very light. A short row will be taken late in the afternoon.
The Cornell university crew arrived in Boston yesterday morning. About 4.30 o'clock the men went out on the river and paddled up stream to the Longwood bridge. Favored slightly by the tide the crew then rowed down stream over the course in 9 minutes, 49 and 4-5 seconds. This time was 19 and 2-5 seconds faster than that made in the race last year, over the same course in the opposite direction. The crew appeared to be well together and maintained a tolerably slow stroke. The men pulled hard, but did not seem to exert themselves especially.
It was announced yesterday that L. Burchard '06 and J. G. Smith 3L. will be the judges at the finish of the race, and J. F. Perkins '99 will be the Harvard judge on the referee's launch.
