Cross-Country Team Leaves for Yale

The University cross-country team will leave the Square this morning at 8.15 o'clock to take the 9 o'clock train from the Back Bay station for New Haven. The team will run against Yale about 3 o'clock tomorrow in the first dual cross-country meet ever held with Yale. Ten men will run on each team, and the first six men on each side will score. This afternoon the squad will walk and ride over the Yale cross-country course.

This course, which is six and three-quarters miles long, runs for about one mile through fields, a mile over macadam road, another over stony wood road, two more over macadam, a sixth on a dirt causeway, and ends with a pull up hill and one lap on the track. The start and finish are on the Yale athletic field.

Candidates for the team were called out on October 1, and they have been

taking long walks and runs here and over the Technology course five or six days a week since that time. A trial race was held in Brookline on October 28 to pick men to run against Technology on November 1, and this race gave the new men some valuable experience. Only two of last year's team, M. S. Crosby '08, captain, and H. F. Hadden '09, were eligible to run, and Hadden has since been obliged to give up running for the year. A squad of about 35 reported at the beginning of the season, and, owing to their steady work, some fast men have been developed.

The University team will be made up as follows: P. W. Carter '10, J. R. Coolidge '10, M. S. Crosby '08, R. E. Dole '10, R. F. Hoyt '10, C. Lanier '10, E. B. Smith '08, E. L. Sender '10, M. H. Whitney '09, P. Woodman '08
