Dramatic Club Plans and Elections

At a meeting of the Dramatic Club held on Thursday a constitution was adopted, which sets forth the object of the club, as follows: "to promote the best interests of the drama in this country, especially in Harvard University, by the presentation of plays; especially original plays by undergraduates or graduates of the University." A later article specifies that the men for the casts shall be chosen by competition open to all members of the University, and that no preference shall be shown to members of the club.

On Monday the definite announcement will be made of the play chosen for production this autumn, and of the coach who will have general charge. Later in the week a general meeting will be held, of all candidates for parts in the play, and the coach will outline the form of competition. Candidates for the positions of assistant manager will also be called out next week:

Performances of the play will be given in Cambridge and in Boston about the third week in December.

An executive committee was elected consisting of D. Gardiner 2L., president; D. Carb '09, vice-president; R. E. Rogers '09, secretary; H. von Kaltenborn '09, manager; W. G. Wendell '09, F. Schenck '09, and P. E. Illman '09. The following were elected active members: A. B. Kuttner 1G., of New York City; P. G. Clapp '09, of Roxbury; F. Schenck '09, of Lenox; N. S. Simpkins '09, of Washington, D. C.; E. E. Hunt '10, of Mechanicsburg, O.; and H. R. Swasey sC., of Portland, Me. Mr. Copeland, Assistant Dean W. R. Castle '00, and A. Davis '07 were elected associate members.
