The fall rowing of the University crew squad ended this afternoon with a race between the three crews, over the three-and-one-half-mile course, starting opposite the Weld boathouse, and finishing in the basin opposite the Union boathouse. The third crew started first, ten seconds ahead of the second, and was able to hold this lead over the latter crew throughout the race. The second crew was never a dangerous opponent and the race soon proved to be a struggle between the University and third crews. The former easily gained on the second and passed it at the Longwood avenue bridge. When coming into the basin the first was almost even with the third, while the second was a length behind. This order was kept until they approached Harvard bridge, when the University eight took the lead. The third was rowing a faster stroke and splashing, while the University crew continued to gain. After the bridge was passed, the third raised its stroke but was unable to gain on the University crew which finished two lengths and a quarter ahead.

The second crew was unable to gain after the basin was reached and finished a length and a half behind the third. The time of the University eight was 19 minutes, 25 seconds.

The crews rowed in the following order:

University Crew--Stroke, Sargent; 7, Waid; 6, R. Cutler; 5, Severance; 4, Bacon; 3, Faulkner; 2, Lunt; bow, E. Cutler; cox., Blagden.

Second Crew--Stroke, Forster; 7, Hooper; 6, Eaton; 5, Withington; 4, Waite; 3, Wyman; 2, Ellis; bow, Shillito; cox., Fales.

Third Crew--Stroke, S. Richardson; 7, M. Richardson; 6, Hanfstaengl; 5, Beane; 4, Deming; 3, Macleod; 2, Peabody; bow, Reece; cox., Everett.
