THE CREW'S DEPARTURE.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The crew leaves for its quarters on the Thames today with a better record than any Harvard crew in recent years. A close win from the Navy, over a strange course, and an overwhelming victory from Cornell are indications of excellence in the early period of training that are encouraging. The men have rowed in the same order since the middle of March and they are showing the effects of it in the splendid way they row together.

From now on the real hard work comes. As yet there has been practically no strenuous rowing--in fact not a single time row has been taken over the full course this spring. For two miles the crew has abundant speed, and there is reason to believe that they can go the full course equally fast. The results so far have given the University that confidence in the crew's ability that is as necessary to victory as too much confidence is fatal.

One of the few chances of the entire year to show the crew the appreciation of the University will be this afternoon when there will be cheering in the Square before the men leave. Let everyone be there and show the crew we have their interests at heart and have confidence in their ability.
