FRESHMEN WON FROM YALE

The Freshman football team closed a successful season Saturday by defeating Yale freshmen at New Haven in an unexciting game, by the score of 14 to 9. The game was marred by a severe injury to Chatfield, right halfback on the Harvard team, who suffered concussion of the brain. For the first 10 minutes he played a hard game, scoring the only touchdown for Harvard. On the next kick-off, however, he was tackled by three Yale men at once and was rendered unconscious. It was later found that his injury was not severe. He left the hospital yesterday afternoon.

The Harvard team outplayed its opponents throughout the game and barely missed making two more touchdowns. Both Howard and Dana nearly scored on forward passes. McClintock's kicking was the feature of Yale's play.

After a few minutes of play Howard recovered a fumbled punt on Yale's 30-yard line. The ball was carried over the goal-line. The ball was carried over the goal-line for a touchdown in four rushes, Chatfield making the score. Gardiner kicked the goal. After the next kick-off Yale rushed the ball to Harvard's 35-yard line. Here McClintock kicked a goal from the field. Shortly afterwards the period ended.

The second period developed into a punting duel between Bliss and McClintock, in which the latter was superior. Late in the period Harvard rushed the ball to Yale's 20-yard line, where Milholland kicked a goal from the field. Yale's touchdown came in the third period as a result of several well-executed forward passes. Foss kicked the goal and tied the score. Before the end of the period Gardiner made two attempts at goals from the field, the second of which was successful. The final score was made in the last period on a safety, when Storer blocked a punt and Wolfe fell on the ball behind his own goal-line.
