The University chess team won the dual match with Yale yesterday evening for the eighth successive year, by the score of 5 1-2 to 4 1-2.

At the first board, T. R. Schoonmaker, '12, lost to R. Beach of Yale; at the second, C. S. Hadley 3L., lost to H. D. Hooker of Yale; at the third, there was a draw between S. Seiniger '15, and E. E. Stearns of Yale; at the fourth, W. B. Harris '13, won from P. Robertson of Yale; at the fifth, B. M. Preble '12, won from R. D. Forbes of Yale; at the sixth, S. L. Mills '12, won from A. S. Terry of Yale; at the seventh, B. Winkelman '15, won from W. H. Chandler of Yale; at the eighth, S. B. Slack 1G., won from B. A. Day of Yale; at the ninth, H. C. Place, '14, lost to N. S. Moore of Yale; at the tenth, J. S. Turner 1G., lost to T. A. Lightner of Yale.

The matches began at 7 and were finished by 11.30 o'clock last night. According to the rules, not less than twenty moves were to be played during the first hour and not less than fifteen for each succeeding hour.
