Second Team Lost to Dartmouth 1914

In an extra inning game with many close decisions, the Dartmouth freshmen defeated the College nine last Saturday afternoon at Hanover, N. H., by the score of 4 to 3. Two runs were scored in the first inning by each team and in the middle of the game one run apiece was made. In the tenth inning Dartmouth managed to score the winning run by two hits and a stolen base.

Sexton pitched a very good game throughout, not only getting 11 strikeouts, but pulling the team out of bad holes by striking out the batter with a man on third; he also got two good hits, one of which came at an opportune time. The College nine had several chances to score, but was unable to either because of close decisions or inability to hit safely. The best chance came in the ninth inning. Howe, the first man up, reached first on Cook's error. Bolton sacrificed, being out on a close play. Chase advanced Howe to third on a ground ball, but Winston hit a long fly to the outfield.
