POMFRET LOST SATURDAY

Freshmen Won First Game of Season by Score of 9 to 2. Fair Team-work Considering Poor ice.

The Freshman hockey team won the first game of its schedule from Pomfret School in Pomfret Saturday afternoon by a score of 9 to 2. Play was slow owing to the fact that there was snow on the ice.

The Freshman forwards began poorly, playing a disorganized game and failing to get started quickly; but they improved as time went on, and during the second half were far superior to their opponents. Individually the men showed themselves to be strong and, considering that the game was their first regular one, their team-work was very good. The defence was at all times effective, as a rule keeping play well away from the goal.

Only one substitute took the trip with the squad, Baker, who went in for Tapping in the second half.
