PRACTICE GAME FOR EDITORS

SCOOP CREDIT FOR EVERY CANDIDATE'S ERROR IN GREAT GAME TODAY.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The CRIMSON baseball team will open its season on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock with a practice game against a team representing the CRIMSON Candidates' Association. Such an early beginning has been necessitated by the rapid development of professionalism in sport on the Lampoon. With them it has always been "Anything to win." To what extent they are carrying this policy is shown by the fact that they intend to forego the usual kegged refreshment in their annual defeat from the CRIMSON at the climax of the spring season.

That today's game will be stupid and uninteresting goes without saying. Against Rube Phillips, of Middletown Springs, and Three-Fingered Bennett, (Manager Henderson is not now sure which he will start), the scoop-chasers will be fortunate to cop a single bingle, while the entire staff of candidates' slab artists will be unable to stop the sangerfest of batting editors. Aside from the tremendous mental and physical gap separating editors from the lowly candidates, any extra base hits will be counted heavily against the latter, and scoop credit will be given them for all errors. Thus we feel that without undue modesty we can safely predict a victory for ourselves.

The batting order: CANDIDATES.  EDITORS. Reynolds, s.s.  2b., Wellman Jones (capt.), c.  3b., Bennett, Phillips Handy, 3b. p., Phillips (capt.),  Bennett Lowrey, S. S. Hall, p.  c., Baker Devereux, l.f.  l.f., Dunbar, Cogswell S. Hall, Hay, 1b.  s.s., McIntosh Ingram, 2b.  r.f., W. C.
