FALL ROWING A SUCCESS.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

If the statement is true, that the success of any branch of athletics is dependent upon its popularity, then rowing at the University has been more of a success this fall than ever before.

The present membership of the Weld Boat Club of 246, shows an increase of 50 men over that of last year at this time. Twelve eights have been in constant use, not including those from the Newell Boat Club; while 25 singles have been on the river twice daily. The four and pair-oared boats have also been used constantly.

At a time when college athletics are criticized on the grounds that the opportunity for participation is open only to the skilled athlete, and that the average man who really needs the exercise is thus barred from the benefits to be derived, the continued success of the fall rowing is most gratifying. Today's regatta is a fitting culmination of a most beneficial season.
