Fielding candidates for the 1917 baseball team will hold their first practice of the season this afternoon. All battery and fielding candidates will report, dressed to play, to Coach Reeves at the Locker Building. The exact time for reporting will be posted at the Rendezrous.
Last year the 1916 fielding candidates held their first workout on February 28, a month ahead of the 1917 men. The battery candidates, however, have been at work for six weeks, and are in comparatively good shape. The following men were retained after the cut several weeks ago: Appleton, Ashley, Babcock, Barker, Cummings, Garritt, Hickey, and Willcox.
Coach Reeves, who developed the 1916 nine, will have a hard task to prepare the 1917 team for the first game, April 14, with Brookline High School. Nevertheless, with the advanced condition of the battery men, and with weather favorable for outdoor work, the prospects are encouraging.
