HAUGHTON CUP SERIES TEAMS TO BE ORGANIZED NEXT WEEK

Second Squad to be Cut to Thirty and Remainder Used to Form Nucleus of Scrub Elevens.

Due to the great popularity of the plan that was used for the first time last year, the football management has decided to hold another Haughton Cup series this fall. In past years the second football squad has been made up of about 70 men, a number too large for the coaches to conveniently instruct, and necessitating considerable inaction upon the side lines.

The second University squad will be cut next Monday or Tuesday to 30 players, the remaining men being divided up into separate teams. At the same time blue-books will be placed in Leavitt & Peirce's and every man in College, whatever his weight, who has ever played football at all, should sign his name there. Men can form their own teams, elect their own captains, use their own style of play, and be independent organizations. Men signing individually will be divided up into teams by Coach R. F. Guild '06, who originated the system, and who will personally direct the series.

These teams will compete in a series for the Haughton Cup. The winning eleven will receive 15 cups to be distributed among those of its men participating in the most games. Moreover, men showing particular promise in the series will be promoted to the regular second eleven, while members of the second eleven who do not display the desired proficiency in the game will be relegated to the Haughton Cup series.

The series will start at the end of next week. Any man desiring information regarding it may see Coach Guild in the Locker Building in the afternoon at 3 o'clock. Freshmen are ineligible, but all men in the three upper classes are strongly urged to take advantage of the opportunity which the series affords.
