The University relay team, crippled by the loss of three regulars, was defeated by the fast B. A. A. team in Mechanics Hall on Saturday afternoon at the annual school-boy meet held under the auspices of the B. A. A. The time was 3m., 4 1-5., being 1 2-5s. behind the record set up a year ago by the University relay team.

The B. A. A. won the pole and F. Burns, B. A. A., took the first corner ahead of E. A. Teschner '17, establishing a lead which he held throughout his race. S. Rose took up the race for the B. A. A. with an eight-yard lead over T. R. Pennypacker '17, and shortly opened up several more yards, but on the last lap Pennypacker cut the distance down so that D. Caldwell's lead over H. W. Minot '17 was but six yards. Caldwell succeeded in widening the gap considerably and Halpin, the B. A. A. champion, by clever starting secured nearly a quarter of a lap lead over W. Willcox '17. The latter was unable to cut down the lead and the B. A. A. won easily.

In the New England championship games, Saturday night, two of the three men entered by the University succeeded in placing, J. O. Johnstone '16 took third place in the high-jump at Lowell with 5 ft., 5 1-2 in., a jump which is below his usual standard. The event was won by H. Barwise of the B. A. A. with a jump of 5 ft., 8 3-4 in., while W. Whallen, also B. A. A., took second place at 5 feet., 7 3-4 in. In the 45-yard hurdles P. M. Rice '17 took second place to J. A. High of the B. A. A. whose time was 6 1-5 sec.

M. P. Robinson '15, the third man of the University trio, placed in his preliminary heat of the hurdles, but was unable to score in the finals.
