The Aeronautical Society held its first meet of the year at Concord Saturday afternoon. The contest was open to all preparatory schools as well as colleges. There were seventeen entries of various types of model aeroplanes, the majority being of the A-frame, double propellor type. This style of machine, entered by J. L. Smith, of Medford High School, and piloted by F. T. Bates, of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, won first place by traveling a quarter of a mile, and was awarded the silver medal. E. H. Bean '17 took second prize by flying his machine 900 feet. H. R. Johnson, of M. I. T., was third with a distance of 800 feet, his plane hitting a tree.
A second meet will be conducted under the auspices of the society at Concord on Saturday, March 27, at 2.30 o'clock. This will be an endurance contest and will be open to all colleges and preparatory schools. Entries should be sent to E. P. Warner '16, Westmorly 23.
