Victory for West in Brown vs. Washington State Game

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

By pounding the left side of the Brown University line, the heavy Washington State College eleven defeated the Providence team, 14 to 0, at Pasedena, Cal., on New Year's Day. It was a clean-cut victory for the West, as Brown fought on the defensive throughout practically the entire game.

Washington's favorite play was off left tackle and Farnum, backed up by Andrews, was unable to break up the play. A drizzling rain fell through the entire contest and as Washington had the faster squad it was figured that the Westerners would be more handicapped than Brown. But the muddy field proved a great obstacle to Pollard, the Brunonian halfback, who lost many yards through his failure to get a good start on end runs.

Twice during the first half Brown had the ball close to her opponents' goal but asked the punch to put it over. Both of Washington's touchdowns came in the second half, the first by Boone and the second by Dietz. Durham kicked both goals.
