COACH HAUGHTON AT PRACTICE

FROM SEAT IN STADIUM WATCHED SECONDS SCORE TWICE ON FIRSTS.

After a short practice on the dummies and the customary "dope talk" yesterday afternoon, the University football squad was put through a 45-minute scrimmage with the second team. The ball was given to the University team in the middle of the field, and after Bond had missed a goal from the field, a series of line plays brought the ball to the second team's goal line and Bond went over for a touchdown. Robinson kicked the goal. After a succession of punts by both teams the second team was given the ball on the University's 25-yard line. The University was put on the defensive from this time on. The second team succeeded in scoring a field goal and a touchdown by E. Ginn '18 and E. H. Ellison '17, respectively, during the half-hour they had the ball. At one time the second team was held for downs on the University's one-foot line. In the last few minutes of practice, the University received the ball on its 40-yard line. H. W. Minot '17 then carried it to the five-yard line in three rushes and S. Burnham '19 scored the University's second touchdown. The running of E. H. Ellison '17 of the second team, who twice made 40-yard runs through a broken field, was the feature of the scrimmage.

P. D. Haughton '99, head coach, was down to practice for the first time this season. He did not do any coaching, however, but watched the scrimmage from the Stadium seats. A former Harvard captain, B. G. Waters '94, and H. M. Atkinson '15, a member of the 1914 squad, were down to coach the linemen.

Five Regulars Given Day Off

G. L. Batchelder '19, a candidate for centre, was on the field, having entirely recovered from the recent injury to his leg. Captain H. H. Dadmun '17, G. C. Caner '17, J. C. Harris '17, R. Harte '17, M. Taylor '18 and H. C. Flower '19 were given a day off and watched the practice from the sidelines.

The University line-up was as follows:
