To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
R. E. Pellissier (Harvard S.B., 1904; A.M., 1909; Ph.D., 1913), a sergeant and about to become a lieutenant in the French Army, met his death in the operations on the Somme, August 29, last. A committee has been formed of members of the Faculty, the student body, the Alumni and friends of Leland Stanford Jr. University--where Pellissier was an assistant professor of Romance Languages--to raise the sum of $1,600 for a Pellissier Memorial. This is to take the form of an ambulance to be maintained for one year in connection with the American Field Ambulance Service in France. Contributions are invited from Pellissier's alma mater, Harvard, and may be sent directly to the treasurer of the committee, Professor P. A. Martin, at Stanford University, California, or through the undersigned. J. D. M. FORD '94.
