Six hundred Dartmouth College students have formed an organization to take up military drills and studies. The study will not be included in the regular college work this year, but it will probably be added to the curriculum next year.
Captain G. W. Stewart, U. S. A., who is detailed by the War Department as instructor and inspector for the New Hampshire National Guard, will take charge of the course, A committee named by the students, including many who have already had experience in a military way, will assist the instructor in preliminary work. Drills will begin after the mid-year examinations this week.
Dartmouth is one of the last of the larger colleges to take up military training as a part of its curriculum. Now that it has been instituted, outdoor drill and tactics will form a regular part of college instruction.
