The oarsmen in all except the first three University boats were yesterday divided into class crews, there now being six such crews: One Senior, one Junior, and four Sophomore. These boats had their first practice yesterday afternoon under the direction of Assistant-Coach Brown, who will have charge of them for the rest of the season.
No changes were made in University A and B or in the upper Freshman crews, all of which took a long row yesterday. The new regulation of having University crews row from Newell Boat Club and Freshman crews from Weld Boat Club is now in effect and has proved to be very useful in getting a large number of crews on the water in a short time.
The order of the class crews is now as follows:
Senior.--Stroke, F. H. L. Whitmarsh; 7, G. F. Talbot; 6, J. H. Volkmann; 5, F. J. Bassett; 4, R. Wood; 3, K. E. Pote; 2, E. Holt; bow, R. L. Gifford; cox, H. J. Babcock.
Junior.--Stroke, N. Darling; 7, B. Darling; 6, W. W. Webber; 5, W. I. Tibbetts; 4, C. A. Adler; 3, B. K. Adams; 2, C. F. Eaton; bow, W. T. Jenney; cox, W. H. Derbyshire.
Sophomore.--Stroke, A. G. Simonds; 7, T. L. Storer; 6, J. M. Franklin; 5, E. Nathan; 4, P. M. Cabot; 3, R. K. Osborne; 2, C. B. Balch; bow, S. W. Dickey; cox, D. C. Jackson, Jr.
